The Father’s Gift – Part 2

I am Trained in the Secret of Overcoming!

“Now Elisha had been suffering from the illness from which he died.  Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him.  ‘My father!  My father!’ he cried, ‘The chariots and the horsemen of Israel!’

Elisha said, ‘Get a bow and some arrows,’ and he did so.  ‘Take the bow in your hands,’ he said to the king of Israel.  When he had taken it, Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands.

‘Open the east window,’ he said, and he opened it.  ‘Shoot!” Elisha said, and he shot.

‘The LORD’S arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over (your enemy) Aram!’  Elisha declared.  ‘You will completely destroy the Arameans at Aphek.’  ”  II Kings 13:14-17

What an incredible thought.  The reality that Jehoash, the king of Israel in Samaria, knew he needed the prophet Elisha’s blessing to win the battles ahead.  Do we ever stop and ask the Lord for His blessing and His help to go into the battles we face?

Jehoash was the king of Israel because of his bloodline.  He was a descendent of King David.  He was in his place of authority because of who he was in his bloodline.  Whether he felt like a leader or not, he was born into it.  He carried the responsibility.  He had the opportunity to make a difference.  Did he?

God has supernaturally given each of us giftings and talents, and even responsibilities in our bloodlines.  When Elisha put his hand on the arrow to shoot out of the window, he had God’s hand of blessing on it.

The same is for you.  If you will go to the Lord in your secret place of prayer, the Lord will put His hand of blessing on your arrows of giftings, talents and yes, even the responsibilites you have in your bloodline.  He has opened windows of opportunities for you for victories over your adversaries to accomplish great things for the Kingdom of God.  You have the opportunities.  Pursue them!  But be sure to go to the Lord for His blessing and guidance first.  If you ask, He will give you the wisdom you need.

Sometimes things are not what they seem, and that is why we have the Lord looking out for us.  You know when the Holy Spirit is leading you, and if you’re not sure, ask for confirmations.  He will give them to you, because He is for you!  He wants to see you go forward and live in victory!

Go to the Lord in prayer, ask for His leading, and let Him train you in the secret of overcoming!  When you can follow His leading, then you have become an overcomer!

God has purpose and He has plans for your life and for your future.  He has ordained you to be a winner!  He has ordained you to overcome obstacles.  You can do it!  The calling and the destiny on your life is good!  Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and you will bring glory to our great Lord and Savior, Jesus!

“For I’m trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or in hunger.  And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.”  Philippians 4:12 b-13 The Passion Translation

“Whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do all this through Christ Jesus Who gives me strength.”  Philippians 4:12b-13 NIV
