The Trinity
How they work together

One of the first basic “Foundations of Life”, found in the Bible, is the Trinity.   Who They are and how They work together is one of those wonderful hidden mysteries we need to know. 

The Trinity:

The word Trinity comes from the words: tri, meaning three, and unity, meaning one. Three in One: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.  The Godhead Trinity means God is One, but exists in three different persons.  These three persons are a Oneness of perfect unity.  

Unity in the Hebrew means: harmony, a shared purpose, and a collective unit made up of diverse parts.  In other words, unity is a movement of harmony in a shared purpose even though the collective parts are different.  So the “Godhead Trinity” even though God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are different in who They are and how They function, They are in perfect harmony in Their purpose and in what They do.  

Let’s look at Genesis 1:1.   “In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth!” 

In both the Greek and the Hebrew, the name “God” (in Genesis 1:1) is the word “Elohim”.  Elohim is plural which means there are more than one.  It represents the Trinity.  It should actually read like this: “In the beginning Elohim created the Heavens and the earth.” 

Elohim also means: it is the term of power, authority, and the act of creating.  Amazing!  In “Elohim” we have the Father God, the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit of God in the fullness of who They are as ONE!  One in power, One in authority, and One in the act of creating! 

This Trinity of complete Oneness is unified perfectly in Their power, in Their authority and in Their creating.  They are the Creator of all things.  They alone have the power, and the authority to create.  Nothing that has been created has come into being accept by them.  Nothing that has been created has the ability to create out of nothing.  Only Elohim has the ability to create anything out of nothing.  There is no other God.  They alone are God.  They alone are Elohim.

Now let’s look at Nehemiah’s revelation of the Trinity. 

Nehemiah 9:6  “You alone are ADONAI.  You made the heavens, even the highest heaven with all its array, the earth and everything on it, the seas and everything in them.  You give life to them all, and the multitudes of heaven worship You.”  

We all know that Adonai means Lord, but did you know it means “They are Lord”.  Here is the Trinity again!  Adonai is the plural of Adon.  Adon is singular and means lord or master, but only in title. 

Adonai is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in their Lordship. It also means: They are sovereign in Their Rulership and in Their ownership of and over all creation.  They not only created everything, but they are the owners of everything, and they are sovereign in their Rule.   They own the earth.  They own our solar system.  They own outer space with all of its vastness.  There is no ending of their ownership or Their sovereignty or Their Rulership.

Just so that you know, sovereign means: Supreme Ruler, the possessor of supreme and ultimate power, the ultimate authority over all of creation.

So, ADONAI is the Supreme ruler, the possessor of Supreme and ultimate power, and the ultimate authority over all of creation.  His sovereignty isn’t a random force.  It is guided by His wisdom, love and Holiness.

ADONAI, the Trinity of power, authority and creating, in the fullness of Their complete Oneness, alone are the Lord and Owners of everything!  There is no other Adonai of Creation.  

The Lord spoke to Isaiah and revealed another facet of who He is as ADONAI.

Isaiah 44:6-8  “Thus says ADONAI, Israel’s King and his Redeemer, ADONAI-Tzva’ot.  I am the first, and the last, and there is no God beside Me. Who is like Me?  Let him proclaim and announce it!  Let him arrange it in order for Me – as I established the ancient nation.  Let them declare to them what is coming and future events.  Do not dread or be afraid.  Have I not told you and declared it long ago?  So you are My witnesses!  Is there any God beside Me?  Is there any other Rock?  I know of none.”  

Tzva’ot means armies or hosts.  They (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) are the Lord of Hosts.  “They” are the Lord of Heaven’s armies.  

Elohim, the One true God, is revealing to Isaiah a new layer of who They are in Their power, Their authority, Their sovereignty, and in Their Supreme purpose for Their creation.  They are the Lord of Hosts.  They are the Lord of heavens armies!  They are Israel’s King and Redeemer!  Israel has nothing to fear, because God has made them a witness of who They (Elohim, Adonai-Tzva’ot) are.  Think about what Adonai is saying here.  “I am the Lord of Creation and there is no other.  I alone am your God.  I alone am your Rock.  Besides Me there is none!” 

Again, Elohim speaks to Isaiah about Their Lordship in Isaiah 45:5-7  “I am ADONAI – there is no other.  Besides Me there is no God.  I will strengthen you, though you have not known Me, so they may know, from the rising to the setting of the sun, that there is no one besides Me.  I am ADONAI – there is no other.  I form light and create darkness.  I make shalom and create calamity.  I, ADONAI, do all these things.” 

Your Sovereign Owner, Ruler, and Creator are declaring there is no other God besides Them.  They, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, alone are God!  They alone are the Creator.  They alone are our Lord.  They alone are the Lord and Mastor of the Heavens Hosts and all of Heaven!  They alone know our future, and will strengthen us, and help us with whatever we need!  There is no one else but Them.  They are ADONAI!  They are ELOHIM!  And They are Adonai-Tzva’ot!

So, here we have 4 facets of who God is.

1 – They are the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in perfect Oneness and Unity.

2 – They are ELOHIM: One in power, One in authority and One in creating.

3 – They are ADONAI: Lord and Master of their creation.

4 – They are ADONAI-TZVA’OT: They are the Lord of Heaven’s Hosts, They are the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

 Now, How do They work together?  Perfectly!
