Eternity’s Holy Fire

Eternity’s Holy Fire on The Altar!

The eternal Holy fire of God on His Holy altar is an incredible mystery, and yet, is it?

“In the year that King Uzziah died, (in a vision) I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and the skirts of His train filled the (most holy part of the) temple.   Above Him stood the seraphim; each had six wings: with two (each) covered his (own) face, and with two (each) covered his feet, and with two (each) flew.   And one cried to another and said, Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!   And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who cried, and the house was filled with smoke.   Then said I, Woe is me!   For I am undone and ruined, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”  Isaiah 6:1-5

So many times when we read this passage we think about the seraphim.  How intriguing it is for there to be such incredible beings, but the real mystery is the one they are crying out about.  The Lord God Almighty!  The Ruler and Creator of all life!  For He is the High and Lofty One.  ONE!  There is no one else like Him!  He stands alone in the Holiness of Who He is!

Let’s continue . . .

“Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.  With it he touched my mouth and said, ‘See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for’.  ”  Isaiah 6:6-7

A live coal?  A live coal means it is burning!  It is on fire!  The seraph could not touch it.  He had to use a pair of tongs to pick it up.  What was it that made the coal burn?  The Holiness of God!  It is the Pure Holiness of the One and Only, High and Lofty Creator, God’s presence, His presence that causes the pure and holy coals of fire to burn.   He truly is Holy and to be feared.

The live (fire) coal from off the altar did not burn Isaiah’s lips!  Had Isaiah not had a repentive heart realizing he was undone by the fallen nature of sin, the fire would have burned him and condemned him.  But when it touched his lips, it took away his guilt of sin, and it made an atonement for his sin.

How can it be?  Jesus had not been born onto the earth yet.  It would not be another 700 years until Jesus would be born on the earth.  He had not lived a sinless life and died a horrific death on the cross in our place for our sins.  He had not gone to hell and stripped the devil of his power and taken the keys of death, hell, and the grave away from him.  Jesus had not risen from the dead and walked the earth for 40 days proving he had risen and then ascend while everyone watched into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father and make intercession for us.   None of that had happened yet.  How could it be that a live burning coal from off the altar make an atonement for Isaiah’s sins?

We know that in heaven, there is no need of bulls or rams or any other animal or bird for sacrificing on the altar.  So, what could have possibly been the driving force of that live fire coal that could take away Isaiah’s sins?!

It was the eternal blood of Jesus!   It’s because, the blood of Jesus is eternal.  If Jesus, being an eternal being, was going to make an atonement for our sins, does that atonement not cover our sins from the beginning of the eternal time of God?  And does it not stretch forward to the end of God’s eternal time, so that we too can have our sins forgiven?  Yes!  Absolutely it does!

Jesus is an eternal being.  God the Father is an eternal being, and the Holy Spirit is an eternal being.  We know that they created the heavens and the earth together.  So, they were in the beginning before the beginning began. Genesis 1, John 1

The word says “They” have forgiven our sins as far as the east is from the west.  The east has no ending.  It’s infinite.  And the west has no ending, it’s infinite.  Only an eternal being that has no beginning and no ending can give us a forgiveness that is infinite, as far as the east is from the west.

“He has not punished us as we deserve for all our sins, for His mercy toward those who fear and honor Him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.  He has removed our sins as far as the east is from the west.  He is like a Father to us, tender and sympathetic to those who reverence (fear) Him.”  Psalm 103:10-13  The Living Bible

What is atonement?  Atonement means His mercy has triumphed over judgment!  Jesus, God’s eternal Son, took the eternal judgment of our sins.  He died in our place, from the beginning of God’s eternal time to the end of God’s eternal time.   So that no matter when you were born the love of the great and fearful eternal God has been poured out to you through His eternal Son, Yeshua!

Jesus said to Nicodemus, “For only I, the Messiah, have come to earth and will return to heaven again.  And as Moses in the wilderness lifted up the bronze image of a serpent on a pole, even so I must be lifted up upon a pole, so that anyone who believes in me will have eternal life.  For God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son so that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.  God did not send His Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.”  John 3:13-17  The Living Bible

The eternal blood of Jesus is the gift of God’s mercy for anyone who wants it. And of course, I am speaking of men and women.  Young and old.  No matter what age or race or whatever you think might matter; it doesn’t.  You can receive the forgiveness of your sins through the atonement of what Jesus did for you on the cross.  Yes!  He did it for you too!   He did it for anyone who wants to be forgiven of their sins.   He did it for anyone who wants to know Him.

The reward is you become born again and are no longer separated from God.  The reward is you become His child and everything changes for good.  The reward is you get to go to heaven and spend eternity with God the Father!

Yes, you can spend eternity in the Kingdom of Heaven in God’s Holy presence.  Eternity is a long time.  When you pass from this natural place into the next realm, where will you go?  There are only 2 places you can go to: heaven, or hell.  You do not have to spend eternity in hell separated from God.  Jesus has made a way for you.   That is a choice everyone has to make.  What do you want?

I must tell you, once you have crossed the threshold of this life into eternity, the sacrifice is no longer valid. You must become born again in this life; you must make your choice in this life in order to spend eternity in heaven with God.  You cannot choose to live this life however you want and then when you die expect Him to receive you into heaven.   It doesn’t work that way.

Remember, we are talking about the Lord God Almighty.  The Ruler and Creator of all life!  He is the High and Lofty One.  ONE!  There is no one else like Him!  He stands alone in the Holiness of Who He is.  He is Righteous in all His ways, and He is to be feared.  He is to be respected and honored.

Becoming born again is the most wonderful experience there is in this life!  You will not be disappointed!  He is worth the effort!

Pray this simple prayer:

Holy God, I come before Your throne of Grace, and I ask you to forgive me of all my sins.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for dyeing on the cross for my sins.  I receive the full payment you made for me in my place.  Wash away all my sins and make me whole.  I want to be born again.  I want to be born in the Spirit, born into the Kingdom of God.  I want to be a child of God.

I receive Your impartation of the Holy Spirit.  Baptize me and make me a new man.

Help me grow in You and have an incredible relationship with You.  I love You and I commit my life to You forever. Amen.
